Will inner Bangkok flood or not? Confused? Me too!

Whether you're an expat living in Bangkok on just the annual tourist that likes to hit the entertainment zones (like me) then you're probably confused as hell as to what's going to happen in regard to flooding in inner Bangkok. Every other day one group of experts or officials say that inner Bangkok has little to fear from flooding. The other group of officials warn that flooding in central Bangkok could be up to 1 meter and that in a worse case sceanrio could reach chest level in low areas especially near the Chao Phraya River.

All I can say is that if you've already booked your airfare to Bangkok and your hotel is anywhere near the Chao Phraya River then you might want to call ahead and have them deliver a jet-ski to your room. Because with the latest failure of the flood control efforts to divert the flood west and east of the city, a jet-ski is going to be about the only way that you're getting to the bars in Nana Plaza or back to the airport a week from now.

I for one have already rebooked my airfare and hotel.  At first I was peeved thinking I made the wrong choice with inner Bangkok still dry. But with the latest news in from the Bangkok Post it looks like delaying a few weeks was the smarter option. This at least gives me time to see if inner Bangkok will be inundated or spared from the flood. Hopefuly, it doesn't get so bad in Soi 33, Soi Cowboy, Nana Plaza and Patpong that the bars close but it's not looking good considering the amount of water headed towards Bangkok in the next several days.
